Overview
This definition will provide the number of connections for the specified port or range of ports. Translation of port numbers and prompting is done by using the information held in the known port table on the host system, which can be edited using the WRKSRVTBLE command.

Create an Element Example
Decide first whether you are adding a definition to an existing group or a new group. If creating a new group, use the Create New Group option from the context menu.
For this example a sub-group, Port Rel, already exists within the sub-group, Network Related, found within the top level User Text group.
If in doubt, select the Open any Group option from the context menu, which will provide a swift visual guide to your group structure:
Open the required group and then use the Properties for Port Rel Group from the context menu:
The group’s properties dialog box will open:
Now, decide whether you wish to create a definition for all systems, or just for this system. This is controlled by selecting the relevant option from the left hand navigation panel; either “Data Selection for All Systems” or “Additional Data for this system”.

For this example we'll create a definition for All Systems, so select that option.
Next, click Add to create the new element. The Data Type defaults to the last element created, so if it is not TCP Port Status, use the drop-down list to select it.
The following example creates a check for the number of established telnet connections, using the two parameters shown. Click OK when ready:
Now,the new definition has been created, click OK once more to return to the monitor.
You can amend the definition’s properties from the context menu, if you don't want to use the default settings. The following example shows the Data Description amended to Telnet Status (from Port 23 Status) and the Presentation in this group to include the value.
