Creating an Event Monitor
Connect the GUI to Robot Schedule, expand scheduling objects, and select event monitors.
Double-click an existing monitor, or right-click and select new.
Enter in the name, description, type and days to retain history.
There are 3 types of monitors: file monitors, directory monitors, and member monitors.
Enter in the cycle information - when this is valid and how often to check.
If the range is blank, the monitor is valid 24 hours.
If a file arrives outside that range, the monitor will not run.
Enter the path to the file, or use the magnifying glass to select the path.
You can enter in a path and specific file for Robot to look for. We also support wildcards.
- * monitors for all files in the directory.
- a* monitors for all files starting with "a"
- *.txt monitors for files with the .txt extension
Select what to monitor for: added, removed, changed, or reaching a threshold.
Enabling or Disabling an Event Monitor
To hold the monitor, right-click on the monitor, and select disable. To start the monitor, right-click and select enable.
Using the Event Monitor as a Job Prerequisite
Find your job, and double-click to bring up the properties. Select the reactivity tab.
Select the add event monitor button on the right, and find the monitor you created.
Viewing Event Monitor History
Right-click on the event monitor, and select event monitor history. This will show when a monitor was triggered, as well as the event data. The event data will be the event that triggered the monitor. For example, if we are monitoring for a file, we will see the name of the file that arrived in the directory.
