Query a Multi-Member File

 

Follow the steps below to query a multi-member file:

1. Within Query, select the member in the tables dialog box.
   or
2. If the member is to be seen as a table:
   On the iSeries 400:
   1. STRSQL
   2. CREATE ALIAS and prompt(F4)
   3. On this screen, enter the table library, and member for which you wish to create an alias.

      Here is an example:
      Specify CREATE ALIAS Statement                     

      Type choices, press Enter.                                                 

      Alias  . . . . . . . . . MLTMBR3ALS    Name                 
      Library  . . . . . . .   JOLIB         Name, F4 for list   
      File . . . . . . . . . . MLTMBR        Name, F4 for list    
      Library  . . . . . . .   JOLIB         Name, F4 for list    
      Member . . . . . . . . MLTMBR3         Name, blank,F4 for list

   4. In Query, when you use the tables drop down, you will now see the new alias name as a table that you can use
