Problem:

You are running FDMERGE on a Windows 2003 server.

When you request dynamic content such as an Active Server Pages (ASP) page, ASP.NET page, Internet Services API (ISAPI) application, or Common Gateway Interface (CGI) application on a Microsoft Windows Server 2003 server with Internet Information Services (IIS) 6.0, you get one of the following error messages:

  • HTTP Error 404 - File Not Found
    -or-
  • HTTP Error 404 - File or Directory not found

Solution:

  1. In IIS, click Web Service Extensions.

A list of all the current web service extensions displays.

  2. For All Unknown ISAPI Extensions, set Status to Allowed.

  3. Test by going to http://localhost/RJSFormServer/mergeForm.aspx. If you get the following error message, continue to step 4:

  4. Add the NETWORK SERVICE user to the Temporary ASP.NET Files folder:

    1. Go to C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727 and right-click Temporary ASP.NET Files.

    2. Click Sharing and Security.

    3. Choose the Security tab.

    4. Click ADD to add a user.

    5. Type NETWORK SERVICE.

    6. Click OK.

    7. Test again by going to http://localhost/RJSFormServer/mergeForm.aspx.
