Problem:

When using the WinSpool/400 product on an AS/400 system in the UK/England, the Sterling (£) symbol downloads as a Dollar Sign ($). What can the user to resolve this problem ?

Solution:

Applies to WINSPOOL version 3.26 and above.

Run the following command to tell WinSpool/400 to use a DDS created work file:

WSPLUSEDDS OPTION(*SET) USEDD(*YES)

Run the following command to tell WinSpool/400 to use CCSID 285 when converting report data:

WSPLCCSID OPTION(*SET) CCSID(285)

Re-start the AS/400 FTP server before using these settings. This clears out an WinSpool/400 work files in library QTEMP for the AS/400 FTP server.

Listed below are the commands for re-starting the AS/400 FTP server:

ENDTCPSVR  *FTP
STRTCPSVR *FTP

From now on, all reports downloaded via WinSpool/400 or any of the Fortra automated download products should use CCSID 285 and the Sterling should get correctly downloaded in the report.
