RNX9998 error with Domino Report Server/400 Output Queue Monitor (NTSMON)

Problem:

When you run the Domino Report Server/400 Output Queue Monitor (NTSMON), all the reports are captured correctly, but an error occurs at the end so reports are not marked as *SENT or moved to the after-processing output queue.
 
The job log has the following:
Pointer not set for location referenced.                                 Internal failure in compiler or subroutine.                              Pointer not set for location referenced.                                 Internal failure in compiler or subroutine.                              Application error.  RNX9998 unmonitored by NTSMON001 at statement *N,    instruction X'0000'.
