To use Monarch for DOS with WinSpool/400 Email Report Server version 3.0.0 or above to convert reports to spreadsheet or database formats:
- In WinSpool/400 Email Report Server, on the Edit Output Queue/Email Recipient screen, in Custom User API Command Line, enter the default command line for Monarch.
For example: If Monarch is in the directory C:\Program Files\Monarch\Program and WinSpool/400 Email Report Server is substituting the input file, output file, and mask file names at runtime, use:
C:\Program Files\Monarch\Program\MONARCH.EXE @INPUTFILE @MASKFILE @OUTPUTFILE
Note: You can substitute the following variables:
- @MASKFILE - The DataImport or DIW/Monarch mask file.
- @MASKOUTPUTTYPE - The DataImport or DIW Mask/Monarch output type.
- @INPUTFILE - The input PC file.
- @OUTPUTFILE - The output PC file.
- @SPOOL - The spool-file name.
- @USERDATA - The spool-file user data.
- @JOBNAME - The spool-file job name.
- @FORMTYPE - The spool-file form type.
- In Output Format for each email recipient, choose API.
- In DataImport Mask File Name for each email recipient, enter the Monarch mask file name.
- In DataImport Output Data Type for each email recipient, enter the file extension for the selected file type. The following file types are valid:
Extension | File Format |
DBF | dBASE III |
TXT | Fixed length ASCII |
WKS | 1-2-3 Release 1, 1A |
WK1 | 1-2-3 Release 2.0, 2.01, 2.2 |
WK3 | 1-2-3 Release 3.0, 3.1 |
XLS | Microsoft Excel |
(Any other) | Delimited ASCI |
Note: When you create masks to use with Monarch, first download the report files with WinSpool 98 and use the ASCII Text - Print Control *PRTCTL format. Otherwise, the columns will not line up correctly when you convert the report with WinSpool/400 Email Report Server and Monarch.
