Your IBM i (OS/400, i5/OS) software allows you to set any of five security levels, each one more secure than the last. Many users choose one of the most secure – level 40.

Both QSystem Monitor and QMessage Monitor can use that powerful security level.

Setting the Security Level

Note: We recommend that you consult the IBM Security Reference guide (especially, chapters 1 and 2) when deciding which security level is best for your system.

Follow these steps to set security level 40 on your IBM i:

  1. Enter the following command:

    WRKSYSVAL QSECURITY

  2. Enter option 2 to display the Change System Value panel.

  3. Enter 40 for the System security level and press Enter.
