Global Threshold
For simplicity, this topic only covers changing Global Thresholds, and the example changes only the Auxiliary Storage definition.
Right-click the AUX bar and select Change AUX Properties from the menu. The following window opens:
Then, select Global Threshold from the left-hand navigation list:
To change an entry to ensure that you raise an alarm, change the maximum value of the threshold to a far smaller number. To do this, right-click the record and select Change.
To change an entry to ensure that you raise an alarm, change the maximum value of the 95 threshold to a very small number, such as 20.
Note: In the following example, the Send Message on iSeries option has been selected. This send a threshold exception message, MON0079, to a QSystem Monitor supplied message queue, MONTHR, on the host system.
Then, click OK.
Then, click OK again.
Now, you can see that the AUX bar is red (and flashing) and the alarm icon is displayed at the top left of the window.
Note: To reset the threshold, change the 20 back to 95.
As the Send Message on iSeries option had been selected, a threshold exception message, MON0079, was sent to the MONTHR message queue on the host system.
This message can be escalated in the usual manner via QMessage Monitor or forwarded to an EMC console.
History Summary
The History Summary can be used to graphically show the history of the CPU status. Note the key along the bottom.
