If your organization has only a single Intermapper server, running it on a virtual server is not generally recommended. Your virtual server infrastructure is one of your most important resources, and you will want to use Intermapper to monitor the elements of this infrastructure. If Intermapper is running on a virtual server inside this infrastructure, and your infrastructure fails, then you lose your monitoring at the time when you need it most.

If your organization has multiple Intermapper servers, using virtual servers for your Intermapper servers is a good idea, as long as all of the Intermapper servers are not inside the same virtual server infrastructure.

There are many compelling reasons to use virtual servers, including higher performance, on-demand scalability, improved reliability, and reduced cost.
