Query Results in Excel Viewer Error 'Viewer selected could not be started'

 

Problem Description:

Displaying query results in Excel viewer returns following error:

The viewer you selected could not be started. Either the command line is incorrect or you need to add an association for the extension by running the Windows registration program regedit.

Solution:

In ShowCase, opening queries created in an earlier version may have the viewer set to a specific version of Excel, which will cause the same error. In Query, change the viewer from Excel worksheet to Microsoft Excel 97-2003.
