Introduction
The Domino SNMP agent captures certain Domino server events and sends them out as SNMP event notifications (traps). To enable your Domino servers to send traps, the OS/400 SNMP agent must be configured and the Domino SNMP Agent must be installed on a PC that is connected via TCP/IP to your IBM i (OS/400, i5/OS) running on IBM Power Systems (System i, iSeries, AS/400).
Configuring the OS/400 SNMP Agent
The IBM i SNMP Agent must be properly configured and running for the Domino Agent to function. Use the CHGSNMPA command to configure the IBM i SNMP Agent. Following are suggested values for the CHGSNMPA command. It is assumed that the IBM i SNMP Agent has not been previously configured or that all values are set at their defaults. For specific details on the parameter values and their meanings, refer to the online help for the command.
| TRPMGR('nnn.nnn.nnn.nnn' 'public') |
nnn.nnn.nnn.nnn is the IP address of the IBM i running Robot Trapper. This may or may not be the IP address of the IBM i that is running the Domino server.
Public is the community name placed in the traps that are sent to this IP address you specify.

| AUTOSTART(*YES) |
*YES means that the SNMP agent is started when the STRTCP command runs. |
| OBJACC(*NONE) |
If Robot Trapper is not installed on the IBM i as the SNMP manager, setting the OBJACC value to *NONE allows traps to be sent from the IBM i, but does not act on SNMP requests received by the IBM i. |
| SNDAUTTRP(*YES) |
When this value is set to *YES, if there are any SNMP requests received from an unknown source, an authenticationFailure trap will be sent to Robot TRAPPER. |
Installing the Domino SNMP Agent
The Domino SNMP Agent cannot be used for port-mapped Domino servers. Each Domino server must use a unique TCP/IP address. Only Domino servers residing on the same IBM i server are supported. This agent cannot be used on a standalone QuickPlace server. User interfaces are in English language only. To install the Domino SNMP Agent, the following requirements must be met.

You must be using Domino for IBM i server release 5.0.5 or higher

You must be using IBM i V4R5 or higher

IBM i SNMP Agent support must be installed and activated

You must have at least 7.3 MB of free disk space

Download the self-extracting C40L8NA.exe file from ftp://service.boulder.ibm.com/as400/products/domino/snmp to a PC connected via TCP/IP to the Domino server. The .exe file contains the following:
