Problem:

When you use MERGELETTERPRINT to run FTPRUNPC and automatically print the document after a merge completes, you get the following error in the job log:

escape message.

The File > Save As dialog box also displays in Microsoft Word.

Solution:

The printer name in FTPRUNPC is invalid. To find the correct printer name to use:
  1. In Microsoft Word, go to File > Print.
  2. For the printer to use, make sure you copy the printer name exactly how it displays on this screen.

Note: Printer names are case sensitive.

  3. Make sure you are using the following syntax in FTPRUNPC, substituting your printer name for HP LaserJet 4000:

    RJSFTP/FTPRUNPC RMTSYS(&RTNIP)CMD('MERGELETTERPRINT~C:\TEMP\MERGE1.DOT~C:\TEMP\MERGE1.TXT~HP Laserjet 4000') OPTION(*WORDOLE)
