An interactive job log is a frequently used tool to diagnose what happens during the execution of an INTERACTIVE job.
 
To set up an interactive job log:
 
  1. To avoid logging previous activity, log in to a new session.
  2. On a command line, type CHGJOB and press F4.
  3. To display more parameters, press Enter and then F10.
  4. Press Page Down to get to Message Logging.
  5. Set the message logging levels as follows:
    Message logging:
      Level . . . . . . . . . . 4 0-4, *SAME
      Severity .  . . . . . . . 00 0-99, *SAME
      Text . . . . . . . . . . *SECLVL *SAME, *MSG, *SECLVL, *NOLIST
    Log CL program commands . .  *YES *SAME, *YES, *NO
  6. Press Enter.
  7. Run the interactive job, and when it is finished, press SysRq.

    Note: On PC keyboards, SysRq is often Shift + Print Screen.

  8. On the dashed line at the bottom of the screen, type SIGNOFF *LIST.
  9. Press Enter.
  10. Type 90 to sign off.
  11. On the Sign off screen, make sure that the Job Log option is set to *LIST as follows:

    Sign Off (SIGNOFF)
    Type choices, press Enter.
    Job log . . . . . . . . . . . . *LIST *NOLIST, *LIST
    Drop line . . . . . . . . . . . *DEVD *DEVD, *YES, *NO
    End connection . . . . . . . . . *NO *YES, *NO

    The user is signed off and a job log is produced, such as the following:

    Device or
    File User Queue
    QPJOBLOG WDB QEZJOBLOG

  12. Log back in with the same profile, and work with spool files (WRKSPLF) to view, print, and review the spool file above.
