Q. The default load average alatms and warnings in the Host Resources probe are set at 12 and 9 respectively. What do these numbers mean and how are they calculated?
A. The one and five minute load averages and alarms thresholds are actually arbitrary values. The load is the number of processes waiting on the run queue, and a load that is OK on one system ay not be on another, as it all depends on the number of processors.
