The account entered in the Server Settings > NT Credentials settings on InterMapper server is used to execute the script used by the WMI probe. The user/password entered in the probe's parameters are the ones used by WMI (DCOM, actually) and are validated by the target host.
The username and password are passed as arguments to the probe's script. DCOM handles them from there.
