Q. I am trying to install IM Flows to a Debian machine and receive the following error when starting the daemon:

  • Starting NetSAW2 flow collector: ns2flowsFATAL: kernel too old /etc/init.d/ns2flows: line 40: 32353 Segmentation fault

A. The error message indicates that the operating system kernel is too old. IM Flows does require a Linux kernel from the 2.6 series, and will not work with a 2.4 series kernel.

Run 'uname -a' to print detailed information about the currently running system. The output will include the kernel version.
