Q. What is the recommended way to temporarily stop exporting data to InterMapper Database?
A. If you'd like to stop the database when not gathering information, use the InterMapper DataCenter web admin interface, navigate to the InterMapper Database -> Maintenance page, then use the 'Pause Operations' button to pause the database for x number of hours, days or indefinitely. It is important that you use the 'Pause Operations' command, rather than stopping it from the Server Settings -> Database Server window; that way all the data will still be collected (while chart data is collected and preserved no matter what, the additional variables recorded by the autorecord mechanism are only collected while the database is enabled in the Server Settings).
